Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul McDonald (ranked 2842 p4p, 115 weight class) and Fred Norris (ranked 3657 p4p, 144 weight class). McDonald comes to the cage accompanied by Set it Off. Paul McDonald could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Fred Norris's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul McDonald! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fred Norris! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Sergei Dronov and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Norris misses with a body shot.
Norris ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McDonald moves away. Norris throws a hook to the side of McDonald's head but McDonald sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Norris lands with a nice combination. McDonald backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Paul McDonald has been cut. Norris swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Norris lands with a shot to the body. Norris looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. McDonald slips a straight right by Norris. Norris fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. McDonald looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. McDonald clinches with his opponent.

Norris lands an uppercut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Norris dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Norris breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McDonald rushes Norris and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Norris misses with a shot to the kidneys.

McDonald is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Norris is defending well. Norris manages to break the clinch.
McDonald staying out of range there. McDonald feinted with a counter takedown. Norris just misses with a punch to the body.
Norris stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul McDonald. That's going to take a lot out of him. McDonald blocks a jab. Norris has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as McDonald is landing a low percentage of strikes. McDonald moves away from the strike by Norris. McDonald gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. McDonald drops down looking for an ankle pick but Norris pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Norris pushes McDonald back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. McDonald is breathing heavily. Norris's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Norris stuffs the takedown. Norris swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Fred Norris is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Norris jabbing away but nothing is landing. Norris is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Norris misses with a body shot.
Norris scores with a jab to the body. Norris throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Norris throws out a loose jab but McDonald uses good head movement to avoid it. Norris jabs McDonald right on the nose. McDonald blinks but takes it well. Norris connects with the punch. Norris misses the jab. McDonald shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Norris as he jumps to the side. A nice combination there by Norris.
Fred Norris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Norris throws an ugly left hook that misses
and McDonald decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Norris's guard. Norris looking to control.
McDonald is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Jitsu Jim that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. McDonald will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. McDonald content to stall in guard here. Norris keeping moving, preventing McDonald from controlling successfully. McDonald advances to half guard. McDonald has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Norris defend it? McDonald steps over the head and cranks it - Norris is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McDonald!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Paul McDonald! Paul McDonald is the new super heavyweight champion! After the fight, Paul McDonald was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
