Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chael Sonnen (ranked 4512 p4p, 442 weight class) and Jim McNulty (ranked 4045 p4p, 409 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chael Sonnen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim McNulty! The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Atkins and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A chopping leg kick lands by McNulty. Jim McNulty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sonnen doesn't succeed with the takedown letting McNulty counter with a right hand. McNulty bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sonnen's head backwards. McNulty throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Sonnen counters with a single leg into guard. McNulty didn't expect that. Sonnen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Sonnen with a flurry of punches that miss. Sonnen chips away with some ground and pound. Sonnen postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Sonnen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Sonnen is stalling in the full guard. Sonnen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sonnen throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sonnen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Sonnen working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Sonnen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McNulty works some decent striking defense from the bottom. McNulty looking to control.
Sonnen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Sonnen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Sonnen throwing strikes from guard but McNulty blocks nicely. Sonnen wants to control from the top but McNulty keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sonnen is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Sonnen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Sonnen controls from within his opponent's guard. McNulty has momentary wrist control but Sonnen slips an elbow through the middle. Sonnen lands a couple of elbows. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sonnen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Sonnen stands up over McNulty, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Sonnen postures up and lands a big shot to McNulty's brow. Sonnen throwing strikes from guard but McNulty blocks nicely. Sonnen passes easily into side control. Nice work. Sonnen looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sonnen grinds an elbow into McNulty's temple. Sonnen cracks McNulty with an elbow. That is naaassty.
McNulty is rocked! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McNulty can do anything to dispel that myth. A big shot lands for Sonnen! That's hurt McNulty! Will he recover? Sonnen fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chael Sonnen! Our winner, Chael Sonnen, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
