Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Craig Bartholemew (ranked 3285 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khalid Al Saadoun (ranked 5494 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Craig Bartholemew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Khalid Al Saadoun!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Al Saadoun gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Al Saadoun looking to throw knees to the head but Bartholemew is blocking nicely.

Al Saadoun circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bartholemew tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Al Saadoun paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Al Saadoun stuffs the takedown attempt from Bartholemew. Bartholemew gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bartholemew.
Bartholemew throws a body shot but no joy.
Bartholemew wants to clinch up but Al Saadoun keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bartholemew seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Al Saadoun does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bartholemew throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Al Saadoun's waist but Al Saadoun gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bartholemew off to one side.
Bartholemew shoots in and drives through. Al Saadoun sprawls well.

Al Saadoun rushes Bartholemew and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Bartholemew tries to pull guard but Al Saadoun holds him up against the cage and eventually Bartholemew drops back down to his feet.

Al Saadoun lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Al Saadoun slows down the pace here.
Al Saadoun blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bartholemew jumps guard but Al Saadoun stands there with Bartholemew around his waist. Bartholemew gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Al Saadoun misses with a shot to the kidneys.

A bit of stalling here from Al Saadoun.

Al Saadoun has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Bartholemew is trying to keep an underhook but Al Saadoun manages to get the takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bartholemew doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Al Saadoun counters with a left and a right that stings Bartholemew.
Bartholemew moves to clinch but Al Saadoun breaks away

and Al Saadoun counters with a takedown into side control.
Bartholemew pushes Al Saadoun away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Al Saadoun gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Al Saadoun happy to just control the position for now.
You can see the frustration on Bartholemew's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Bartholemew manages to work his way to half guard, despite Al Saadoun's best efforts.

Al Saadoun is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Al Saadoun is looking to take a break and control but Bartholemew is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Al Saadoun is thwarting Bartholemew's attempts to control the position.
Al Saadoun is pressing down on Bartholemew's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bartholemew is holding on for now.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
No luck for Bartholemew with that takedown attempt.

Bartholemew drops down looking for an ankle pick but Al Saadoun pulls his leg out and moves away.
Bartholemew shoots in for a takedown but Al Saadoun shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Bartholemew bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Al Saadoun's guard.

Al Saadoun has Bartholemew pulled in close to control his posture.

Al Saadoun has control of Bartholemew's left arm, preventing Bartholemew from doing any damage.
Al Saadoun wants to get back to his feet but Bartholemew is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Al Saadoun pushes Bartholemew away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bartholemew gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Khalid Al Saadoun showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Al Saadoun breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Khalid Al Saadoun seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bartholemew looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bartholemew tries to close the distance and clinch but Al Saadoun swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bartholemew shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Al Saadoun as he avoids it easily.

Al Saadoun is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Bartholemew working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Al Saadoun doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Al Saadoun manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Well Al Saadoun has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
