Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Davis (ranked 1447 p4p, 176 weight class) and Randall Jackson (ranked 2229 p4p, 242 weight class). Davis comes into the arena with Imperial March (L.O.D. Rage Mix) blaring out of the sound system. Jackson has chosen Waiting around to die? as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Randall Jackson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonathan Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Randall Jackson! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Davis makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! No joy there for Davis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Jackson! But no joy. A swing and a miss from Davis. Jackson scores with the left hand. Davis knows he should have avoided that one. Jackson's coach down at Temple of Cloud Warriors-youth was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Jackson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Davis moves out of range of the leg kick from Jackson. Davis misses the shot to the body. A looping hook to the body misses from Jackson. Davis does a little dance to reset his feet. This has been an exciting period of action! Davis checks a leg kick nicely. Davis lands a nice hook to Jackson's body. Jackson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Jackson ducks under a wild hook from Davis. Davis blocks a jab. Davis avoids a punch combination nicely.

Jackson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Davis swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Jackson. Davis has Jackson up against the cage in a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Davis struggles to land a body shot inside as Jackson controls his hands.

Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Davis uses from the top position. Jackson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth. Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jackson is trying to keep Davis in close.

Jackson with a nice head shot there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jackson controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Jackson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Davis haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. We've been told by Davis's head coaches at Stark Combat Center that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Davis is looking to clinch but Jackson is avoiding it.

It looked like Davis was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jackson. A good leg kick by Jackson. Jackson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jackson tries to throw a body punch but Davis avoids it by throwing Jackson back against the cage. Davis is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. That was a close second round but I would say that Jonathan Davis will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Davis stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jackson. Jackson slips a jab from Davis. Davis tests Jackson's chin there with a solid looking shot. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Davis here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Jackson throws a body shot but no joy. Davis scores with a jab to the jaw. Jackson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Davis as he jumps to the side. Davis is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Jackson throws a hook to the side of Davis's head but Davis sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. An attempted straight right counter from Davis misses the target. Jackson throws a nice looking combination but Davis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Davis takes a swing at Jackson's ribcage but misses. Some wild striking there from Davis.

Jackson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Davis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jackson. Davis slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Jackson passes easily into side control. Nice work. Davis is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jackson connects with a decent elbow. Davis takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Jackson in side control lands a decent elbow. Jackson is putting a hurting on Davis here, landing some big shots from side control. You can see the frustration on Davis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Jackson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Davis down.
Davis on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Davis sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Jackson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jackson winds up and cracks Davis with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Davis is looking to control Jackson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Davis avoid being mounted? The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jackson connects with a nice short shot to Davis's temple. Jackson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Davis keeps working. Jackson throwing shots but Davis is blocking nicely. Davis wants to get back to full guard. Davis blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jackson. Jackson sitting and controlling from the half guard. Jackson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Davis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Davis is trying to control but can't.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Randall Jackson. I think Jackson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
