Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kim Jong Guk (ranked 225 p4p, 37 weight class) and Alexandr Kuznetsov (ranked 537 p4p, 73 weight class). Jong Guk comes to the cage accompanied by Jiu Jitsu. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kim Jong Guk! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
31 - 22 - 4, fighting out of Montreal, Alexandr Kuznetsov! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jong Guk scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Jong Guk scores with a body shot.
Jong Guk looks for the body kick but Kuznetsov saw that one coming. Kuznetsov steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. Jong Guk connects with a body shot that sends Kuznetsov's belly button to the back. Kuznetsov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kuznetsov with a jab. Kuznetsov looks to score with a jab to the body but Jong Guk is just out of range. A counter left hand to the body from Jong Guk misses its target. Jong Guk buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
We've been told by Jong Guk's head coaches at Canadian Elite Bruins Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Jong Guk lands a head shot. Kuznetsov's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Kuznetsov duly obliges. This has been an exciting period of action! Jong Guk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kuznetsov takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kuznetsov throws a head kick that misses. Kuznetsov takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Jong Guk uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kuznetsov.

Jong Guk cracks Kuznetsov with a nice body shot. Jong Guk misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kuznetsov is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

A nice right hand lands inside from Jong Guk. Kuznetsov blocks a body shot from Jong Guk. Kuznetsov blocks a body shot from Jong Guk. Jong Guk misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Jong Guk lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Jong Guk lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Kuznetsov is rocked! Jong Guk tries to work over Kuznetsov's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Kuznetsov is still on wobbly legs! Can Jong Guk finish him? Jong Guk lands with a light punch inside. Kuznetsov prevents a body shot from Jong Guk. Kuznetsov creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Kuznetsov seems to have recovered his senses. Jong Guk misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Jong Guk lands a shoulder strike. Jong Guk lands with a left to the head. A nice right hand lands inside from Jong Guk. Jong Guk lands a body shot. Jong Guk misses with a body punch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Jong Guk. Jong Guk dips a shoulder and cracks Kuznetsov with a mighty uppercut! Kuznetsov falls back against the cage and Jong Guk unloads with a barrage of strikes! Kuznetsov is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Jong Guk screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kim Jong Guk! Kim Jong Guk retains his welterweight title! A victorious Kim Jong Guk thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
