Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marek Koltun (ranked 1103 p4p, 145 weight class) and Abner Applegate (ranked 1339 p4p, 175 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
35 - 22 - 4, fighting out of Helsinki, Marek Koltun! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abner Applegate! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Applegate circles away from the clinch attempt.
A nice leg kick lands there from Applegate. Applegate throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Applegate tests Koltun's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Marek Koltun has been cut. Applegate getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Koltun is looking to clinch but Applegate is avoiding it.
Applegate misses with a hook. Koltun ducked under it nicely. Applegate stuns Koltun with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Applegate throws a low kick but Koltun avoids it. Koltun appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Applegate throws a nice inside leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Applegate stuffs the takedown attempt from Koltun. Koltun gets slowly back to his feet. Excellent takedown into side control there by Koltun.
That's one minute gone in the round. Koltun wants to control but Applegate is keeping him busy. Koltun throwing shots but missing, from side control. Applegate is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Applegate is looking for a sweep. Applegate is not content to let Koltun control the position. Applegate is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Applegate takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Koltun working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The ground and pound from Koltun seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Applegate is working to avoid the ground and pound but Koltun connects with a decent elbow. Koltun looking to control but instead Applegate has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Applegate is trying to stand back up but Koltun is controlling him
Koltun thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Applegate's head. Koltun is trying to work for a kimura but Applegate is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Koltun throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Koltun has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Applegate is trying to stand.

Koltun is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Koltun in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Applegate trying to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Applegate is controlling Koltun's posture. Koltun wants to control from the top but Applegate keeps moving.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Applegate throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Applegate defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Koltun. Applegate misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Applegate feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Koltuns jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Abner Applegate dominated that round. The cut man is working on Marek Koltun's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Applegate lunges at Koltun with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Koltun's hand. A nice leg kick lands there from Applegate. Koltun shoots in for a takedown but Applegate shows good takedown defense. Applegate misses with a hook. Koltun ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Applegate looks to throw the jab but Koltun is out of range. Applegate throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Koltun counters with a nice kick to the body. Abner Applegate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Applegate tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Koltun was well out of range. Poor timing from Applegate. Koltun checks a leg kick. Koltun avoids the body shot from Applegate.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Applegate throws a leg kick but Koltun checks it. Koltun attempts a counter takedown but Applegate avoids it well and moves away. Applegate throws out a loose jab but Koltun uses good head movement to avoid it. Applegate has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Applegate misses with a wild body shot. Koltun has a takedown stuffed.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big right from Applegate misses. Koltun drops down looking for a counter takedown but Applegate sprawls and moves away. Marek Koltun is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Applegate lands a really nice looking cross but Koltun seems unphased.
Koltun fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Applegate avoids it really well and circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marek Koltun. That's going to take a lot out of him. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Koltun is defended easily by Applegate. Koltun closes this distance looking for a takedown but Applegate circles away. Applegate defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Koltun. Applegate throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Koltun feinted with a counter takedown. Abner Applegate seems to be getting the better of the standup. Koltun with a poor takedown and Applegate connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Applegate lands a big uppercut and Koltun crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Koltun looks OK. Applegate waves Koltun back to his feet!
Koltun is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Applegate slaps away a takedown attempt from Koltun, before circling back to the center of the mat. Oh Koltun is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Nice shot by Applegate. Applegate weaves into range and cracks Koltun right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Koltun goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Applegate is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Abner Applegate! Abner Applegate decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little. Marek Koltun spoke after the fight, saying 'My opponent was the better man tonight, but I will be back.'.
