Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Kay (ranked 3451 p4p, 135 weight class) and Korean Kimchi (ranked 2054 p4p, 80 weight class). Kimchi has chosen BigBang & 2NE1 - Lollipop as his entrance music. Korean Kimchi will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Kay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Korean Kimchi!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimchi cracks Kay with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
A jab lands there for Kimchi.
Kimchi jabs Kay right on the nose. Kay blinks but takes it well.
A cross from Kimchi lands.
Kimchi lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kay at a distance.
Kimchi goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Kimchi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kimchi wants it to stay on the feet.

Kay has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've been hearing good reports from Kay's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Kimchi felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Kimchi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kimchi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kay is working away from the top position though.

Kimchi has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kay is on him like a limpet, forcing Kimchi back against the cage.

Kimchi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Korean Kimchi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kimchi feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kays jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Kay walks into a stiff left hand from Kimchi.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kimchi lands with a cross.
Kimchi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kay.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Kay. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kimchi misses with a wild combination.
Kimchi scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Kimchi slaps away a takedown attempt from Kay, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kay shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kimchi sprawls well. Kimchi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kay gets slowly back to his feet.

Kimchi lunges at Kay with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kay's hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Korean Kimchi dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kay shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Kay shoots for a takedown but Kimchi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kimchi looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Kay takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Kay changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kimchi tries to avoid it but Kay manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kimchi to the ground. Kimchi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kimchi connects with a looping right hand.
Kimchi lands a nice shot that snaps Kay's head back.
Kay closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Kay moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kimchi cracks Kay with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Kay tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Kimchi pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Kay is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Korean Kimchi!
