Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gavin Blevins (ranked 23473 p4p, 0 weight class) and Val Rife (ranked 5741 p4p, 0 weight class). Val Rife will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Val Rife! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Bruno Hogan and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blevins keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Blevins tries to counter with a takedown but Rife is quick to defend against it. Rife misses with a takedown attempt and Blevins counters with a left and a right that stings Rife. Rife pushes Blevins up against the cage in a clinch. Blevins manages to break the clinch.
Rife fails with the takedown and Blevins counters with a series of strikes. Rife will be more careful next time no doubt. Gavin Blevins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Val Rife. Rife has his takedown stuffed and Blevins counters with a two punch combo. Blevins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rife fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Blevins sprawls well initially but Rife persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Blevins on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Blevins tries to roll over but Rife keeps him under control. Rife working the head and body with strikes.

Blevins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Blevins will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Rife looking to control but Blevins passes into half guard.

Blevins seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. This has been an exciting period of action!
