PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jigoro Kane (ranked 4003 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kron Gracie (ranked 8829 p4p, 0 weight class). Kron Gracie told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
41 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jigoro Kane! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
29 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kron Gracie! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kane misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gracie is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Kane misses with a leg kick and Gracie counters with a takedown into side control. Kane sneaks out the side door and pushes Gracie away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Kane looks to score with a jab to the body but Gracie is just out of range. Kane walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Gracie checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Kane moves in looking to clinch but Gracie pushes him off. Kane moves into range and clinches up with Gracie. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gracie blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Kane ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kane no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kane looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kane looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kane! Gracie tries to bench press Kane off him but Kane keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie can't do much from the bottom here. Gracie is looking to regain half guard here but Kane keeps moving and retains side control. Gracie manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Kane is thwarting Gracie's attempts to control the position. Gracie keeping hold of Kane's head, controlling as best he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Gracie wants to control but Kane is keeping busy.
Gracie looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kane is looking for a kimura but Gracie is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kane to get the leverage. Gracie is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kane's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kane's back! Gracie is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kane defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Gracie looking to break Kane's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Kane remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Gracie will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Kane is in bad spot here.
Gracie sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Kane taps out!
