Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Howlett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Jones!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jones wants to slow Howlett down by chopping away at his legs.

Howlett drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Howlett stands up over Jones, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Howlett throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Howlett loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Howlett accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Howlett stands up and waves to Jones to follow him.
Jones scoring well with a low kick there.
Jones wants to clinch.

Howlett feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Howlett won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
Jones is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Howlett trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Howlett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Howlett stands up over Jones, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Howlett is controlling him.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Howlett thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Howlett is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Jones wants to stand up but Howlett is controlling him.
Howlett trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones wants to stand and escape but Howlett is having none of it.
Jones looks gassed!
Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Howlett has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Howlett throwing strikes but missing.

Howlett working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Howlett shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Howlett showed some decent athleticism there.
Jones keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Howlett lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Howlett seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Jones is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
