Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marcus Vinicius! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Aleksandr Petrovski! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vinicius keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Vinicius defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Petrovski. Vinicius wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Petrovski tries a head kick but it misses.
Vinicius wants to clinch up but Petrovski keeps it at a distance. Vinicius tries to close the distance and clinch up but Petrovski swats him away and circles back towards the center. A shot to the liver by Vinicius. Beautiful body shot. Vinicius pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Petrovski back to the cage. Vinicius follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. No luck for Vinicius with that takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petrovski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vinicius circles away. Marcus Vinicius has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aleksandr Petrovski. Vinicius tries to clinch up but Petrovski circles away and keeps his distance. Petrovski throws a fast counter high kick but Vinicius manages to duck under it in time. Petrovski throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Petrovski leaves Vinicius with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Petrovski tries to counter with a clinch but Vinicius shakes him off and moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vinicius lands with a shot to the body. Petrovski shoots in for a double leg but Vinicius sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Vinicius is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Vinicius is looking to clinch. Vinicius tries to close the distance and clinch up but Petrovski swats him away and circles back towards the center. Petrovski wants to counter the offense by Vinicius and move into the clinch position. Vinicius with a poor takedown and Petrovski holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Vinicius is looking for a takedown. Petrovski tries to pull guard but Vinicius won't allow it.
Vinicius has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Petrovski is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Petrovski leaning against his opponent.
Vinicius lands a body shot in the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petrovski looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Vinicius taking a breather. Petrovski with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Petrovski avoids a wild elbow strike from Vinicius. Petrovski has Vinicius pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vinicius manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Petrovski working hard to break the clinch. Vinicius ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Vinicius no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vinicius is on top in guard.
Petrovski controls Vinicius momentarily but Vinicius frees himself. Petrovski keeping full guard, as Vinicius tries to pass.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petrovski keeping moving, preventing Vinicius from controlling successfully. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Petrovski can do anything to dispel that myth. Petrovski wants to sweep here but Vinicius controlling him for the moment. Vinicius trying to stand up but can't free himself from Petrovski's guard. Vinicius trying to control but Petrovski is working from the bottom. Vinicius is looking to stand up but Petrovski won't let him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Petrovski working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vinicius doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vinicius manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Vinicius trying to control the position from guard on top but Petrovski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Petrovski trying to control the position here.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Vinicius scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vinicius tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Petrovski manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Vinicius fails with the takedown and Petrovski counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Petrovski. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcus Vinicius dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Petrovski has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Vinicius uses from the top position. Vinicius wants to control from the top but Petrovski keeps moving. Vinicius is really struggling to control Petrovski but he's trying to hold on to the position. Vinicius tries to stand but Petrovski is controlling from the bottom. Vinicius is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Petrovski can do to turn this around? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petrovski working a defensive guard but Vinicius passes into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Petrovski keeps control of the position for the meantime. Vinicius is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Petrovski has a hand on Vinicius's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Vinicius takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Vinicius punching from mount but Petrovski doing a good job of avoiding damage. Vinicius wants to control the pace but Petrovski is squirming around nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Petrovski holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Vinicius tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petrovski is looking to get to half guard. Petrovski is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Vinicius can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Petrovski is looking to escape. Petrovski tries to improve his position but Vinicius has taken his back! Vinicius has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Petrovski tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Vinicius pushes Petrovski away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
