Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Liddell (ranked 7128 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abdul Gazimov (ranked 24885 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mark Liddell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Abdul Gazimov! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gazimov tries to clinch but Liddell moves out of range. Gazimov takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Gazimov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Liddell paws at him with a jab and circles away. Gazimov avoids the head kick by Liddell.
Gazimov now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Gazimov feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Liddell's calf. We've been informed that Gazimov has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Gazimov tries to clinch but fails miserably and Liddell counters with a lovely straight right hand! Mark Liddell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Liddell connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gazimov's hands. Liddell lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Gazimov tries to clinch up. Liddell seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Gazimov looks to score with a jab to the body but Liddell is just out of range. Gazimov showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Liddell.

Liddell does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Gazimov forces Liddell back against the cage and clinches. Gazimov tries a knee to the head but Liddell blocks it.

Gazimov has Liddell pressed against the cage, preventing Liddell from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Gazimov slowing the pace effectively. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gazimov throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Liddell blocks it with crossed arms. Liddell has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Liddell wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gazimov has him pressed against the cage. Liddell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gazimov can do to turn this around? Gazimov manages to break the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mark Liddell. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Liddell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
