Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Flores (ranked 23789 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Will (ranked 5242 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Flores!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Will!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Will shoots in for a takedown but Flores shows good takedown defense.

Flores instigates a clinch.

Flores has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Will regains guard immediately.
Will bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Flores's guard.

Will throwing strikes but missing.
Will wants to control from the top but Flores keeps moving.
Will has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Will throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Flores works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Will trying to control the position from guard on top but Flores is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Will looking to sit in guard and control but Flores gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Will is trying to control the position but Flores postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Will looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Flores really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Flores has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Will is proving hard to escape from.
Will is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Flores trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Will wants to sweep here but Flores controlling him for the moment.
Will is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Flores enables Will to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Flores manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Flores can't keep his opponent in guard - Will advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Will trying to pass the guard but Flores defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Will passes to full mount!
Will throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Flores is squirming around, avoiding Will's attempts to control the action.
Flores holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Will tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Will swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Flores is now in Will's guard. A big mistake from Will there, giving up the dominant position!
Will looking to hit a scissor sweep but Flores is one step ahead there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Will has his hands on Flores's head, controlling the position.
Will is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Flores is in close to Will's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Will looking for a sweep. Not yet Will, not yet.
Flores missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John Will will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Will is trying hard to land a takedown here. Flores sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Will closes the distance and clinches up with Flores, looking for a takedown. Will pushes Flores against the cage but Flores circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Flores closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Will did well to prevent Flores getting side control.
Will wants to improve his position but Flores is controlling well.
Will wants to control but Flores is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Will gets full guard.

Flores postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Will is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Flores, into his guard.


That's one minute gone in the round.
Will throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Will passes Flores's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Will seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Flores does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Will in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Flores tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Will!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Will!
