PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alfred Hammarskjold (ranked 8746 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roar Horse (ranked 3263 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alfred Hammarskjold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roar Horse!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horse throws a lazy right hand but Hammarskjold sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Horse misses with a body shot.
Hammarskjold drops down looking for a counter takedown but Horse sprawls and moves away.
Horse scores with a punch to the head.


It looks like Alfred Hammarskjold has been cut.
Horse has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Hammarskjold fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Horse to the ground. Hammarskjold is now in Horse's guard.
Hammarskjold working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Horse preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hammarskjold trying to control but Horse is working from the bottom.
Hammarskjold won't allow Horse to get back to his feet.
Hammarskjold postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hammarskjold postures up in Horse's guard and throws a big left but Horse blocks it.
Horse wants to get back to his feet but Hammarskjold is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Horse has momentary wrist control but Hammarskjold slips an elbow through the middle.
Horse wants to stand and escape but Hammarskjold is having none of it.

Horse uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Horse defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hammarskjold.
Horse moves into range and connects with a jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Horse. Hammarskjold does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hammarskjold attempts a counter takedown but Horse avoids it well and moves away.
Horse connects with a body shot.
Hammarskjold takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Horse cracks Hammarskjold with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Roar Horse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hammarskjold takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Horse pushes Hammarskjold up against the cage in a clinch.
Horse working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Hammarskjold goes for a takedown in the clinch but Horse prevents it.
Hammarskjold is breathing heavily.
Horse prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alfred Hammarskjold. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hammarskjold is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Horse gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Horse misses with a hook to the ribs.
Horse throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Hammarskjolds head.


Alfred Hammarskjold's cut is getting worse.
Horse works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Alfred Hammarskjold's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Horse lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hammarskjold backwards.

Horse is leaning against Hammarskjold and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Horse throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Hammarskjolds head.


Jeez, Alfred Hammarskjold's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Horse lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Hammarskjold.

Horse lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Alfred Hammarskjold's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Roar Horse!
In his post fight interview, Roar Horse started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
