Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fist Face! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Braydon Key! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Key checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Key throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Face. Face moves into the clinch successfully.
The referee calls for Face to work.
Face is fighting off a takedown attempt but Key is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Face to the mat. Face regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Key stops Face from standing up. Key is in close to Face's body, working some short punches and elbows. Key has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Face utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Key working some strikes from top position. Key stops Face from standing up. Key stands and throws Face's legs to the side, diving into side control. Face tries to escape but Key is in control. Face takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Face is trying to get back to his feet. Key lands a few punches from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Key lands some shots froms side control. Key is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Face has escaped the position, nice work there. Face is breathing heavily. Key landing a few strikes. Face wants to get back to his feet but Key drags him back down. Key lands a few punches from side control. Key working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Face parries the strikes from Key easily there. Key is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Face to escape.
Key scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Face to see if he's OK. Face knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Key on the ground. Key connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Face some visible discomfort.
Key scoring with punches and elbows. Key lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Key grinds an elbow into Face's temple.
Face is rocked! Key landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Oh Face is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Key lands a strong strike to the head of Face. That's dazed him! Key looking to finish here. Face is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Key lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Braydon Key! Braydon Key is the new lightweight champion!
