Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Swift (ranked 23844 p4p, 824 weight class) and Jerry Berry (ranked 4796 p4p, 605 weight class). Jerry Berry told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jerry Berry!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berry scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Berry fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Berry misses with the ground and pound.
Berry in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Swift knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Berry on the ground.
Swift wants to get back to his feet but Berry is dominant here and he's now got Swift's back!
Berry punishes Swift with strikes from the back mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Swift is covering up but some of the strikes from Berry are getting through and doing damage.
Berry lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Swift is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Berry lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Berry is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Swift. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Berry lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Swift hold on?!
Swift takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Swift grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Berry controlling the position well here. Swift rolled but Berry kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Berry's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Berry is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Swift has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Berry has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Swift taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Berry doesn't care though - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jerry Berry!
In his post fight interview, Jerry Berry started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
