The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquez slips a jab and a cross from Roots.
It seemed like Marquez was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Marquez has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Roots is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Roots takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Levi Roots seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roots tries to bum rush Marquez with a series of wild strikes but Marquez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Roots moves into the clinch.
Marquez breaks from the clinch.
Both fighters circling a little - Marquez finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Marquez ducks under a wild hook from Roots.
A combination from Roots does no damage.
Marquez follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Marquez throws a sloppy head kick and Roots moves out of range easily.
Roots appears to be looking for a big counter.
Roots thows a left - swing and a miss!
Marquez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Marquez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Roots throws a lazy right hand but Marquez sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Roots throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Marquez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Marquez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Roots throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Marquez counters with a low kick, right behind Roots 's knee.
Roots instigates a clinch.
Roots breaks from the clinch.
Roots takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Marquez misses with a body kick.
Marquez fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
A jab from Roots misses.
A little jabbing left from Marquez on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Marquez avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Roots clinches up against the cage.
Marquez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Roots fails to land with a series of punches.
Marquez tries a quick counter leg kick but Roots is wise to it.
Roots is breathing heavily.
Marquez avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roots throws a combination. Marquez tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Roots throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Marquez.
Marquez raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Roots misses with a left hand
and Marquez counters with a straight right hand.
Marquez is looking to slow Roots down with leg kicks.
Roots throws a right hand that Marquez ducks under and follows up with a left that Marquez also avoids with ease.
Marquez connects with a jab.
Roots is rocked!
Marquez lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!
