Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kendo Hirigushi (ranked 601 p4p, 71 weight class) and Ibbe Ribbler (ranked 403 p4p, 45 weight class). Ribbler has chosen Bad Religion - Infected as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ibbe Ribbler has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kendo Hirigushi! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ibbe Ribbler! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hirigushi with a nice cross. Ribbler misses with a lunging right hand
and Hirigushi counters with a nice uppercut. Hirigushi digs a good hook to Ribbler's body.
Hirigushi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ribbler moves away. Ribbler appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Hirigushi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ribbler. Hirigushi swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Hirigushi throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ribbler cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Ribbler takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Ribbler keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hirigushi. Hirigushi scores with a nice strike. A big right from Hirigushi misses. A telegraphed right hand from Hirigushi misses the target. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ribbler has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Hirigushi misses with a body shot
and Ribbler connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hirigushi is looking to clinch. Hirigushi throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Ribbler shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hirigushi but Hirigushi pushes him off and we're back to square one. Hirigushi connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ribbler defending well as Hirigushi loads up on a big left hand. Ribbler looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Ribbler throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hirigushi to regain full guard. Ribbler won't allow Hirigushi to sweep him here. Ribbler has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hirigushi keeping moving, preventing Ribbler from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ribbler looking to pass the guard. Hirigushi pulls Ribbler in to control the position. Ribbler postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hirigushi controlling Ribbler's posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ribbler tries to free his leg and advance position but Hirigushi is retaining full guard. Ribbler stops Hirigushi from standing up. Hirigushi keeping moving, preventing Ribbler from controlling successfully.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Hirigushi connects with a body shot that sends Ribbler's belly button to the back. Hirigushi scores with a decent looking hook. Kendo Hirigushi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ribbler misses with a hook
and Hirigushi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Hirigushi bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ribbler's head backwards. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hirigushi throws out a token jab with nothing on it. It looks like Hirigushi has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Hirigushi jabbing away but nothing is landing. A little jabbing left from Ribbler on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Ribbler's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hirigushi connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Ribbler scrambles back to his feet. Hirigushi lands a nice shot that snaps Ribbler's head back.
Ribbler lands a jab to Hirigushi's midsection.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ribbler swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hirigushi swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Ribbler throws a body shot but no joy. A telegraphed right hand from Hirigushi misses the target. Ribbler misses with an uppercut
and Hirigushi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Ribbler's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Ribbler duly obliges. Hirigushi wants to clinch up but Ribbler keeps it at a distance. Ribbler throws out a counter right but Hirigushi avoids it with no problem. Hirigushi paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Ribbler throws a jab when Hirigushi was well out of range. Ribbler circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ribbler ducks under a wild hook from Hirigushi. Hirigushi is looking to clinch but Ribbler is avoiding it.
Hirigushi staying out of range there. Hirigushi lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Ribbler uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ribbler misses with a right hand and Hirigushi counters with a series of strikes. Ribbler will be more careful next time no doubt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ribbler uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hirigushi. Ribbler looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Hirigushi fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Ribbler scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hirigushi in his tracks.
Hirigushi is rocked! A punch lands to the side of Hirigushi 's head but he takes it in his stride. Oh Hirigushi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Hirigushi tries to clinch there but Ribbler circles away.
The fighters circling - Ribbler throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Hirigushi throws an off balance right hand
and Ribbler counters with a lovely straight right hand! Ribbler lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Hirigushi - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Ribbler!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ibbe Ribbler! Ibbe Ribbler is the new lightweight champion! Ibbe Ribbler thanked the fans post fight for their support.
