Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Jones (ranked 4223 p4p, 420 weight class) and Wayne Wilson (ranked 5872 p4p, 528 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wayne Wilson! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wilson as he jumps to the side. Wilson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones. Jones works over Wilson's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Wayne Wilson has been cut. A looping hook to the body misses from Jones. Wilson does a little dance to reset his feet. Jones missing with a left hand there. Wilson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Jones is looking to score with low kicks. Wilson darts in looking for a takedown but Jones gets double underhooks and turns Wilson into the cage. Jones throws a hook but Wilson blocks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wilson shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well. Jones scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Daniel Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Wilson. Wilson gets slowly back to his feet. Daniel Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wayne Wilson. Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Wilson.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from Wilson as Jones shoots in. Wilson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. A cross from Jones lands. Jones avoids the head kick by Wilson.
Jones scores with a hook to the body. Wilson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Jones defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wilson. Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wilson moves away. Wilson swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Jones shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Jones lands a two punch combo.
Jones tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Wilson is able to avoid easily. Wilson has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Wilson there as he acknowledges the shot. Wilson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Jones takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jones misses with a wild body shot. Wilson checks a leg kick. Jones circles away from the clinch attempt so Jones counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Wilson wants to stand but Jones is controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wilson is trying to keep Jones in close.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones wants to control from the top but Wilson keeps moving. Wilson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there. Wilson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jones trying to control but Wilson is working from the bottom.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Jones looks to land a right hand but Wilson moved out of range. Nice defenses there by Wilson. Wilson ducks right into an uppercut from Jones. Wilson fails with a takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Wilson's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Jones dives in looking to finish as Wilson flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Jones's strikes! Jones is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Wilson's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Wilson was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
