Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Carruthers (ranked 3941 p4p, 148 weight class) and Pablo Jr Silva (ranked 4007 p4p, 149 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jimmy Carruthers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Jr Silva! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carruthers ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. No luck for Silva with that takedown attempt. Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. A lull in the action here. Silva postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Silva working away. Silva landing strikes. Silva slows the pace down. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carruthers avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Silva. Carruthers is being controlled here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. It looks like Silva might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Silva throwing shots but missing, from side control. Silva working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Silva working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carruthers is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Silva moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Silva is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Carruthers has escaped the position, nice work there. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Carruthers manages to get back to half guard. Silva is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Carruthers defends it well. Silva is figuring out what he wants to do next.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carruthers wants to improve his position but Silva is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Carruthers defending well though. Silva with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Silva prevents Carruthers from improving his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Carruthers keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Silva is working for a kimura but Carruthers is defending it quite comfortably.
Silva passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Carruthers! Silva takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pablo Jr Silva dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Silva throws a big shot that misses. Carruthers throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Silva stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Carruthers counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Carruthers lands a right hook to the body.
Silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Carruthers tried to counter with a leg kick but Silva avoided it. Silva misses with a kick to the body.
Carruthers with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Silva moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Carruthers moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Silva keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Silva is trying to get an arm triangle but Carruthers is defending well. Carruthers tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Silva wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carruthers defending against the ground and pound. The referee asks Silva politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Silva prefers to stall for the moment though. Carruthers is looking for a sweep. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Carruthers wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Silva is staying tight to Carruthers's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Silva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carruthers, who protects the arm well. Silva content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Silva thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Silva is staying tight to Carruthers's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Carruthers is looking to reverse the position. Silva controlling the position from side mount. Carruthers defending against the ground and pound. Silva slows the pace down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Silva has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Carruthers wants to control but Silva postures up. Silva controls the position. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Silva landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Carruthers being controlled for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Pablo Jr Silva will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Silva swings away with a leg kick that misses. A decent looking cross lands there for Carruthers. A shot to the liver by Carruthers. Beautiful body shot. Carruthers is looking to wear down Silva with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Silva has his takedown stuffed and Carruthers counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Silva thinking. Silva tries to clinch but Carruthers moves out of range. Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carruthers tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carruthers to the ground. Carruthers escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Carruthers keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Jimmy Carruthers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pablo Jr Silva. Carruthers dips down and scores with a jab to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carruthers throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Carruthers connects with a right that clearly hurt Silva. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Carruthers proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Silva collapses and taps out under the pressure!
