Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Todd Rumper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shaun Sargent!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sargent has Rumper up against the cage in a clinch.
Sargent tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rumper just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rumper stalling.
Sargent just leaning against Rumper, taking a breather.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Rumper escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rumper throws a series of punches but Sargent moves out of range.
Rumper looks to throw the jab but Sargent is out of range.
Sargent is looking to clinch.
Rumper cracks Sargent with a right hand to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sargent fails to land the takedown.
Rumper with a jab.
Rumper misses with a two punch combination.
Sargent wants to counter with a clinch but Rumper pushes him away.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sargent will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Todd Rumper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shaun Sargent.
Sargent takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
It looks like Shaun Sargent has been cut.
Rumper throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Sargent tumbling to the canvas!
Sargent is rocked!
Rumper thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Sargent is still in real trouble! Can Rumper finish him?
Rumper seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Rumper is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Sargent seems to have recovered his senses.
Sargent is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rumper is sitting in close to Sargent's body. Sargent has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Rumper is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Rumper is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Sargent.
