The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edwards decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Maeda gets full guard.
Maeda has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Edwards can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Edwards accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Edwards is posturing up here but Maeda has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Edwards tries to roll out but it's too tight and Edwards has to tap! Slick submission there by Maeda!
