Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chongyang Lu (ranked 2439 p4p, 0 weight class) and Collin Minus (ranked 2531 p4p, 0 weight class). Chongyang Lu is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chongyang Lu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Collin Minus! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Minus gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lu to score an easy takedown into full guard. Minus looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lu has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Minus is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Lu trying to control but Minus is working from the bottom. Lu wants to pass the guard but Minus is keeping the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lu engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Minus wants to sweep here but Lu controlling him for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Minus seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Lu looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Minus is fending him off so far but Lu persists. Nope, Minus circles away and we're back to standing. Lu shoots for a takedown but Minus saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lu shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Minus defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chongyang Lu. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lu has a takedown stuffed. Lu has been working on his balance at Island Safe Space, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Minus. Lu closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Minus quickly recovers to half guard. Lu thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Minus's head. Minus is trying is best to control the position here. Minus is looking to escape. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Minus can do anything to dispel that myth. Lu throws a strike but Minus avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Minus is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Minus seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lu does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lu knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Minus on the ground. Lu is looking to improve his position.
Lu works his way to full guard. Good work. Minus trying to control the position from guard on top but Lu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Minus passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lu tries to get to full guard but Minus has control of the leg. Minus looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Collin Minus dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
The fighters circle momentarily. Minus darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Lu wants to clinch up but Minus keeps it at a distance. Lu lands a leg kick that knocks Minus off balance momentarily. Lu decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Lu controlling the action here. Minus moves into full guard.

Lu forces his way into half guard. Minus is trying to get back to full guard. Lu drops an elbow to the side of Minus's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lu with the ground and pound but Minus uses the opportunity to regain guard. Lu trying to control but Minus is working from the bottom. Lu would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Lu wants to stand and escape but instead Minus has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Minus wants to control from the top but Lu keeps moving. Lu looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Minus controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Lu is looking for a triangle here but Minus uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lu can't do much from the bottom here. Minus in side control lands a decent elbow. Collin Minus has got the better of the ground game so far. Lu can't do much from the bottom here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Minus tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Minus has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lu tries to bench press Minus off him but Minus keeps the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Collin Minus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Minus throws a wild body kick that Lu sees coming a mile off. Minus fails with a takedown attempt. Lu feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Lu wants to pass the guard but Minus is keeping the position. Lu stays in close to Minus's body and controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lu wants to control from the top but Minus keeps moving. Lu wants to stand but Minus is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lu darts in looking for a takedown but Minus gets double underhooks and turns Lu into the cage. Excellent takedown into side control there by Lu. Minus tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Lu throwing strikes here but Minus is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Chongyang Lu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Collin Minus is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Lu is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Chongyang Lu showed his dominance in that final round. Well Minus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
