PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frank Dux (ranked 1539 p4p, 172 weight class) and Master Roshi (ranked 3640 p4p, 362 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Dux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Master Roshi!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roshi throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Dux sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Roshi leaves Dux with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've been hearing reports that Dux has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Dux displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Roshi throws out the jab.
Dux tries to counter with a takedown but Roshi is quick to defend against it.

Dux has closed the distance and engaged Roshi in a clinch.

Dux lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Dux misses with a head shot. Roshi uses the momentum to regain guard.
Dux sitting in guard here, content to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dux pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Roshi is keeping the position for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dux drops back looking for a leg! Roshi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Roshi manages to kick Dux off! Dux jumps back into Roshi's guard.
Roshi keeping moving, preventing Dux from controlling successfully.
Dux might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Roshi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dux trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Dux trying to control the position from guard on top but Roshi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dux stops Roshi from standing up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Dux closes the distance and pushes Roshi back into the cage.
Dux swings wildly with an uppercut but Roshi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Roshi wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dux has him pressed against the cage.
Dux wants a takedown but no success here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dux drops down looking for an ankle pick but Roshi pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Dux. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dux stuns Roshi with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Master Roshi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dux is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Roshi throws the left hand but Dux avoids the punch easily.
Dux takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Dux keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Roshi.

Roshi moves out of range of the strikes.
Dux doesn't manage to clinch there - Roshi circles away.
Dux moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Dux tries to counter with a takedown but Roshi is quick to defend against it.

Dux clinches with his opponent.
Dux wants a takedown.

Roshi manages to break the clinch.
Roshi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Roshi on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Dux just misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Roshi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dux.

Roshi gets caught napping as Dux dives in and scores a takedown. Roshi manages to retain guard.
Roshi wants to stand and escape but Dux is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Frank Dux will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Dux is looking to clinch.
Dux throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Roshi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Roshi feints the counter takedown.
Dux moves forwards but Roshi connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Dux darts in and clinches Roshi up against the cage.
Roshi prevents a takedown attempt there.
Roshi stops a takedown attempt from Dux.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dux is looking for a takedown.

Dux misses with a short punch on the inside.

Roshi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dux looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Dux scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
You can see the frustration on Roshi's face as Dux controls the position.

Dux thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Roshi is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dux is controlling him well.

Dux is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Roshi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Roshi is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Dux has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Dux looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Dux is trying to get an arm triangle but Roshi is defending well.

Dux tries for a kimura but Roshi is defending well.

Dux working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Dux goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Roshi rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Dux's guard! Nice work there by Roshi!
Roshi wants to stand but Dux is controlling his posture from full guard.

Dux looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Dux has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Roshi should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Dux has tightened it up now! Roshi should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
