Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jason Carlton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregory Bennington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlton comes to the cage accompanied by Inside the Fire. Bennington comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Machine Head kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Gregory Bennington will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Carlton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregory Bennington! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bennington fails with a takedown attempt from distance. The fight moves into the clinch position. Bennington drops down looking for an ankle pick but Carlton pulls his leg out and moves away.
Bennington doesn't manage to clinch there - Carlton circles away.
Carlton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Carlton advances position into side control! Carlton lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Bennington is not content to let Carlton control the position. Bennington wants to control but Carlton postures up. Carlton goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Bennington rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Carlton's guard! Nice work there by Bennington! Carlton is breathing heavily. Bennington decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Carlton, up you get!
That's one minute gone in the round. Carlton gets a clinch. Bennington tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jason Carlton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gregory Bennington. Carlton blocks the elbow strike.
Bennington throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Bennington goes for a takedown in the clinch but Carlton prevents it.
Bennington breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bennington fails with the takedown and Carlton counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Bennington tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Carlton just stands there and leans against the cage. Bennington fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Carlton gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bennington regains guard.
Bennington looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Carlton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bennington is keeping the position for now. Bennington manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Bennington has control of Carlton's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Carlton regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Carlton is looking to improve his position but Bennington isn't that keen on the idea. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carlton throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Bennington prevents Carlton from getting the reversal. Poor strikes thrown by Bennington there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Carlton is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bennington is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Carlton is surviving well by controlling Bennington's body position as best he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bennington is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Carlton can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Bennington fails to move to back control. Bennington throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Carlton because Bennington loaded up on that one. Bennington jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Carlton manages to avoid the submission attempt. Bennington fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Bennington tries for a kimura but Carlton is defending well. Carlton is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bennington cracks Carlton with a big right hand but Carlton just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Carlton holds on to Bennington's head and controls the position momentarily. Carlton is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bennington's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Carlton is pressing down on Bennington's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Carlton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bennington can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Carlton is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Carlton looking for a guillotine here but Bennington defends easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Jason Carlton will probably get the nod. That's time! Carlton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Bennington tries to pull guard but Carlton holds him up against the cage and eventually Bennington drops back down to his feet.

Bennington is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Carlton pulls him back up using the underhooks. Jason Carlton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gregory Bennington. Bennington is fighting off a takedown attempt but Carlton is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Bennington to the mat. Bennington regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Bennington trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Carlton preventing the sweep. Carlton trying to control the position from guard on top but Bennington is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carlton trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
