Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Spas Spasov (ranked 24095 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davion Motley (ranked 6036 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Spas Spasov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Davion Motley!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spasov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Motley feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Motley scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Spasov pulls Motley in to control the position.
Motley controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Spasov has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Motley stands up over Spasov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Motley has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Spasov seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Motley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Motley seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Left hook, right uppercut from Spasov.

Motley bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Spasov tries to bench press Motley off him but Motley keeps the position.
Motley takes a little break here. Spasov wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Spasov is trying to control Motley's posture but Motley avoids it.

Motley tries to advance to mount but can't.
Spasov is trying to get back to his feet.
Motley is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Motley moves into full mount!
Spasov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Motley is standing up, even though he is in mount.

and Spasov counters with a left and a right that stings Motley.
Spasov fails to land with a series of punches.
Spasov scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Motley rushes Spasov and presses him up against the cage.

Motley ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Motley no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Motley lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Davion Motley will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Motley rushes Spasov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Motley wants a takedown but no success here.

Spasov is fighting off a takedown attempt but Motley is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Spasov to the mat. Spasov regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Davion Motley has got the better of the ground game so far.
Motley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spasov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Motley slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Motley content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Motley not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Spasov is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Spasov has momentary wrist control but Motley slips an elbow through the middle.

Spasov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Motley seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Spasov wants to get back to his feet but Motley is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Motley swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Spasov counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Motley looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Spasov!
Spasov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Motley on the ground.
Spasov gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Motley looking to control and managing it successfully.
Motley cracks Spasov with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Motley takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Motley has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Spasov is in a horrible position here. Motley smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Motley lands a couple of good shots and Spasov has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Davion Motley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Motley fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Spasov sprawls well initially but Motley persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Motley stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Motley fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Spasov to the ground. Motley is now in Spasov's guard.
Spasov is looking to stand back up but Motley counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Spasov.

The fighters are battling for position here. Spasov manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Motley decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Spasov, up you get!
Spasov misses with a takedown attempt - Motley sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

A lazy left from Spasov finds it's target.

Motley shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Motley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Spasov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Spasov darts in looking for a takedown but Motley gets double underhooks and turns Spasov into the cage.

Spasov misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Davion Motley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Motley winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
