Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Bennett Kent! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Charlie Brooks! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kent clinches up against the cage. Kent can't break the clinch.
Kent manages to break the clinch.
Brooks lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Bennett Kent has been cut. Brooks moves into the clinch. Brooks breaks the clinch.
Brooks scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Kent makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Brooks has managed to clinch.
Brooks ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Brooks no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Kent stands up from guard. Let's bang! Nice body punch from Brooks. Brooks throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kent was covering up waiting for the punch and Brooks finishes the takedown easily into guard. Kent uses the cage to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kent decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Kent seems to be working for a kimura but Brooks defends the submission attempt. Brooks wants to control but Kent is keeping busy and won't allow it. Brooks on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Brooks is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kent pulls his head out easily. Brooks actively working from the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brooks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Kent is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brooks is just riding it out for now. Kent eventually gives up the hold. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kent is thwarting Brooks's attempts to control the position. Brooks wants to improve his position but Kent is controlling well.
Kent stands up and beckons Brooks to join him on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brooks goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Kent gets caught flat footed, as Brooks shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Kent manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Brooks jumps guard.
Brooks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kent doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kent manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kent is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kent gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brooks scores with a takedown into Kent's guard. Kent scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Brooks throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Kent counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Brooks trying to control but Kent postures up.
Brooks looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kent is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brooks is just riding it out for now. Kent eventually gives up the hold. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bennett Kent dominated that round. The cut man is working on Bennett Kent's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Kent tries to clinch but Brooks moves out of range. Kent closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Brooks quickly recovers to half guard. Kent looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Kent is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brooks can do to turn this around? Brooks wants to control but Kent is keeping busy.
Brooks is looking to get back to is feet but Kent passes into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brooks is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kent's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Kent! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Brooks has tapped! This one is allllll over!
