Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sesto D Ippolito (ranked 947 p4p, 122 weight class) and Simon Budimon (ranked 1343 p4p, 163 weight class). D Ippolito comes to the cage accompanied by Squeeze- Cool for Cats. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sesto D Ippolito! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simon Budimon! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! D Ippolito tries to clinch and Budimon counters with a leg kick. D Ippolito moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. A low kick from Budimon misses and D Ippolito counters with a nice double leg into side control. Budimon won't be happy with that. D Ippolito working the body and head with strikes. D Ippolito lands an elbow. Budimon is positioning himself to get back to half guard. D Ippolito thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. D Ippolito wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Budimon, who protects the arm well. This has been an exciting period of action! Budimon sneaks back into half guard. D Ippolito passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. D Ippolito working for a guillotine from mount but Budimon is in no mood to give up. Budimon is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Budimon stops D Ippolito from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. D Ippolito has control of Budimon's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Budimon regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Budimon wants to control but D Ippolito is having none of it. Budimon is looking to improve his position but D Ippolito isn't that keen on the idea. D Ippolito working Budimon over with strikes here. D Ippolito has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Budimon can't escape the position.
Budimon wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by D Ippolito.
D Ippolito working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. D Ippolito jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Budimon manages to avoid the submission attempt. Budimon defending against the ground and pound. D Ippolito postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Budimon stops D Ippolito from passing to mount. Budimon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with D Ippolito. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Budimon is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, D Ippolito asserts his dominance and retains side control. Budimon can't do much from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Budimon takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Budimon is trying to improve his position. Budimon takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. D Ippolito is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Budimon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Budimon pushes D Ippolito away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, D Ippolito gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. D Ippolito looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. D Ippolito tries for a kimura but Budimon is defending well. D Ippolito is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Budimon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. D Ippolito has an Americana. Budimon didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! D Ippolito is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if D Ippolito hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Sesto D Ippolito! Sesto D Ippolito was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
