20 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Trent Cotchin! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Dean Styles and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cotchin wants to land a leg kick but Favelli is out of range. Favelli feinted with a counter takedown. Cotchin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Favelli manages to avoid it. Cotchin takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Favelli rushes Cotchin and presses him up against the cage. Cotchin tries a body shot but Favelli blocks it.
Favelli makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Cotchin tries to break free but Favelli pushes him back against the cage. Cotchin misses with a short punch on the inside. Favelli fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Favelli lands on the inside with an uppercut. Favelli lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Favelli goes for a takedown in the clinch but Cotchin prevents it.
Cotchin tries to throw a body punch but Favelli avoids it by throwing Cotchin back against the cage. Cotchin lands a left hand that snaps the head of Favelli backwards. Favelli taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Favelli manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Favelli working for a triangle but Cotchin defends it easily.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Cotchin works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cotchin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Favelli manages to get to full guard.
Favelli has his foot on Cotchin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cotchin works his way back into a safe position though. Favelli is looking for a triangle but Cotchin pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cotchin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Favelli defends it well. Favelli tries to roll over but Cotchin keeps him under control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Cotchin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cotchin wants to pass the guard but Favelli is defending well. Cotchin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Favelli has managed to free his arm - good work. Cotchin scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Favelli is staying active underneath Cotchin, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cotchin is controlling the pace.
