Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benton Riggs (ranked 25251 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Dan (ranked 5753 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Benton Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Dan!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dan throws a head kick that misses.
Dan throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Riggs.
Dan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Riggs is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Dan.
Dan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Riggs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Riggs is fending him off so far but Dan persists. Nope, Riggs circles away and we're back to standing.
Dan misses with the combination.

Dan bucks up and tries to throw Riggs off but instead Riggs has got his back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Riggs is riding his opponent, not letting Dan buck him off.
Dan tries to escape the position.

Riggs trying to control momentarily.
Dan breaks Riggs's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Dan trying to control but Riggs is working from the bottom.
Dan with a flurry of punches that miss.
Dan postures up in Riggs's guard and throws a big left but Riggs blocks it.

Dan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Riggs has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dan has managed to get both his arms back between Riggs's legs - danger averted.

Riggs has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Dan throws a big elbow that misses.
Dan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Dan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Riggs blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dan.
Dan misses with a head shot. Riggs uses the momentum to regain guard.
Dan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Dan throwing strikes but missing.
Dan trying to control the position from guard on top but Riggs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dan throws a big right hand that misses.

Dan stands up and waves to Riggs to follow him.
Dan misses with a head kick.
Michael Dan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Dan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Riggs.
Despite the aggression on Dan's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Riggs is breathing heavily.

Riggs attempts a counter takedown but Dan avoids it well and moves away.
Dan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Riggs moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Riggs appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

and Riggs counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Dan!

Dan throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Benton Riggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Dan.

Dan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Riggs changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Dan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dan misses with a head kick.
Dan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Riggs's waist but Riggs gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dan off to one side.
Riggs tries to counter with a takedown but Dan is quick to defend against it.
Michael Dan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Riggs shoots in for a takedown but Dan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
As Dan tries to get set, Riggs tries to push him back and clinch up but Dan manages to avoid the attempt.
Dan tries to land a front kick but Riggs steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Michael Dan seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Dan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Riggs misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Dan misses with a takedown attempt - Riggs sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Dan darts in and clinches Riggs up against the cage.
Riggs is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Dan to keep the fight standing.

Dan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Dan is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Riggs dives into side control.

Riggs throws a strike aimed at the side of Dan's head but Dan avoids it well.

Dan is trying to buck Riggs off.
Riggs wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dan keeps working.

Riggs has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dan lands a jab to the head.


It looks like Benton Riggs has been cut.

Dan moves into range and clinches up with Riggs.
Riggs tries to circle away but Dan has him pinned against the cage.

Riggs manages to pull guard.

Riggs looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Riggs works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Dan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Dan throws a sloppy head kick and Riggs moves out of range easily.
Dan throws a wild body kick that Riggs sees coming a mile off.

Dan sneaks out the side door and pushes Riggs away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Riggs as he jumps to the side.
Riggs is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Riggs displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dan.
As Dan tries to get set, Riggs tries to push him back and clinch up but Dan manages to avoid the attempt.

Riggs closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Michael Dan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Benton Riggs's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Riggs is rocked!
Dan throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Riggs's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Dan dives in looking to finish as Riggs flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Dan's strikes! Dan is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Riggs's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Riggs was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Dan!
