The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fernandez misses with a head kick.

Fernandez gets a clinch.
Macdonald tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fernandez smiles and moves away.

Macdonald gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Macdonald is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Fernandez stands and steps away. Macdonald gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fernandez moves into the clinch.
Macdonald really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Macdonald gets control of Fernandez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Macdonald will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Fernandez wanted to stand there but Macdonald had control of the position.
Macdonald wants to sweep here but Fernandez controlling him for the moment.

Macdonald is looking to stand up but Fernandez isn't so interested in that idea.

Fernandez shoots in and gets a takedown into Macdonald's guard.

Macdonald has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Fernandez is working an open guard so Macdonald takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fernandez gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Fernandez has hold of one of Macdonald's legs. Macdonald is fighting the takedown attempt but Fernandez gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Macdonald has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Fernandez should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Macdonald has tightened it up now! Fernandez should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
