Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Za Bott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chael Sonnen!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bott.
Sonnen swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Bott slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Bott connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sonnen's hands.
Bott throws a big shot that misses.
Bott tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Sonnen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bott won't be happy with that.
Bott defending against the ground and pound.
Sonnen gets to mount! Bott was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Bott in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Sonnen lands a heavy elbow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sonnen scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Bott?
Bott tries to reverse the position but Sonnen maintains control.
Sonnen is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Bott goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Sonnen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Chael Sonnen!
Chael Sonnen decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
