Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shane Myres (ranked 7275 p4p, 573 weight class) and Chris Lappers (ranked 4498 p4p, 349 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Shane Myres has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Shane Myres seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shane Myres! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Lappers! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lappers throws a good cross that connects.
Lappers dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Lappers misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Myres.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Myres. Lappers connects with a good right hand that stumbles Myres. Myres circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Some wild striking there from Lappers.
Myres walks into a straight right hand from Lappers. Myres fails with the takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck for Myres with that takedown attempt. Lappers wants to counter with a clinch but Myres pushes him away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Myres. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lappers turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Lappers connects with a leg kick. Myres looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Myres looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Lappers! But no joy. Myres shoots in for a double leg but Lappers sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Lappers gets in close and instigates a clinch. Lappers lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Myres blocks the elbow strike.
Lappers escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Myres crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Lappers - the referee stops the clock and Myres gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Lappers. Myres manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Lappers bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Lappers fails to land with a series of punches.
Lappers throws a nice looking combination but Myres bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Myres throwing a counter right hand but Lappers manages to avoid it. Lappers feints a jab promting Myres to slip. Lappers then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Myres slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lappers tests Myres's chin there with a solid looking shot. Lappers works Myres's body with a nice hook.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Myres shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lappers defends it nicely. Lappers steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Myres. Lappers scores with a jab. Lappers throws a wild body kick that Myres sees coming a mile off. Myres drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lappers sprawls and moves away. Myres dives in for a single leg takedown but Lappers sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Lappers throws a leg kick which misses Myres's front leg but catches the back leg as Myres tries to avoid it. Lappers throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Myres. Lappers uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Myres. Lappers works Myres's body with a nice hook.

Lappers clobbers Myres with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. A punch lands to the side of Myres 's head but he takes it in his stride. Lappers changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Lappers thuds his right hand into Myres's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. A slapping leg kick lands for Lappers.
Lappers misses the shot to the body. Lappers fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Myres looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Myres takes a body punch but keeps moving. Lappers lands a nice shot to the body.
Myres looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lappers throws a shot to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lappers stuns Myres with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Myres with a poor takedown and Lappers counters by moving into the clinch. Lappers tries to land knees in the clinch but Myres avoids the damage to the body. Lappers landing knees to the head.
Myres is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lappers pulls him back up using the underhooks. Myres is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Myres goes for a takedown attempt but Lappers pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Myres shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lappers as he avoids it easily. Lappers tries to counter with a clinch but Myres shakes him off and moves away. Myres is breathing heavily. Lappers slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Lappers has taken the fight to the clinch.

Lappers jabs Myres to the body, keeping him at a distance. Myres shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lappers sprawls well. Lappers wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Myres gets slowly back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Lappers dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Lappers scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Lappers connects with a crisp jab. Lappers leaves Myres with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Myres is defended easily by Lappers. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Lappers. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Lappers fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

It's hard to tell if that hurt Myres or not. Myres managing to block the knees to the body from Lappers.

Myres has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lappers is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Myres can't get the takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lappers digs a right hand into Myres's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Myres's gas tank. Myres changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lappers fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Chris Lappers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lappers throws a nice outside leg kick. Lappers rushes Myres and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Lappers prevents the takedown attempt.

Myres wants to take the fight to the mat but Lappers manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Nice body punch from Lappers - that landed with a thud.

Lappers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Lappers throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Lappers scores with a push kick. Lappers changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Myres looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Lappers lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Lappers lands an elbow. Lappers lands some shots froms side control. Myres is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Lappers in side control, just content to control the action for now. Lappers has knee on belly and moves into mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lappers pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Lappers unloading with bombs! Lappers is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Myres can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Myres shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Lappers connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Chris Lappers is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Myres has Lappers pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lappers manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Lappers lands an elbow inside. Myres looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Myres wants a takedown but no success here.

Lappers closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Myres trying to remain calm as Lappers controls from the top position. Lappers is continuing to stall. Myres tries to improve position but can't. Lappers controls the position. Lappers tries to move into full mount but can't pass Myres's legs. Lappers in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Myres regains half guard. Lappers seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Let's hope that Lappers has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Lappers wants to pass to mount but Myres is defending the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Myres looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Myres is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Lappers is tapping! Great win for Myres!
