Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Liam James (ranked 2988 p4p, 417 weight class) and Alexander Dumas (ranked 5297 p4p, 644 weight class). James comes to the cage accompanied by Come To Daddy by Aphex Twin. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Liam James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alexander Dumas!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dumas fails with a takedown attempt.

Dumas drops his hands momentarily and James takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Dumas steps to the side to avoid the strikes from James.
Dumas shoots for a takedown but James saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Liam James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Dumas.
James misses with a straight left.
Dumas ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
James misses with a hook.
Dumas slips a jab from James.
James ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and James counters with a lovely straight right hand!
James digs a good body shot into Dumas's ribs.
James bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dumas scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

James pushes Dumas off looking to stand but Dumas dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dumas is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
James looks like he's trying to stand up.
James is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at 3Band MMA ($700/week), so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Dumas is sneakily working for an arm triangle but James sees it coming and defends easily.

Dumas is looking for a kimura but James is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dumas to get the leverage.
James tries to kick Dumas off but Dumas keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Dumas uses his free foot to push down on James's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for James.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dumas is going oldschool here, as he tries to force James to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so James shrugs it off.
James squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Dumas working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

James is trying to shake Dumas off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Dumas won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dumas shoots in and drives through. James sprawls well.
Dumas tries to score a power double leg takedown but James sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dumas somewhat.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
James scores with a jab to the jaw.
James connects with a nice looking jab.
James is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Dumas fails with the takedown.
James lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by James.
Liam James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
No luck for Dumas with that takedown attempt.
James lands a jab to the head.
Dumas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? James is fending him off so far but Dumas persists. Nope, James circles away and we're back to standing.
Dumas dives in and grabs James's left leg, looking for a takedown. James pushes down on Dumas's head and hops out.

James fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Dumas looks winded!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James's jab looks to have found its range, popping Dumas under the eye.
James connects with a looping right hand.
Dumas shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dumas.
James lands a lovely overhand right.
James fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
James scores with a shot to the body.
James scores with a nice strike.
James lands a body shot.
Dumas fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A left and a right from James both land. Nice combination.
James works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

James cracks Dumas with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Dumas looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can James finish him?


Dumas is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Liam James dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


James throws out a powerful jab.
Dumas doesn't succeed with the takedown

and James counters with a crisp right hand that drops Dumas! James lets Dumas back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Dumas is still on wobbly legs! Can James finish him?
Dumas shoots in looking for a takedown. James tries to sprawl out of it but Dumas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. James manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dumas seems to have recovered his senses.

Dumas dives in and scores a takedown into James's guard.

James has his feet on Dumas's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nice jab there from James.
James is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dumas can do to turn this around?

Dumas tries for a takedown but James sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

James punishes Dumas's body with a nice straight punch.
Some wild striking there from James.
James scores with a sloppy right hand. Dumas should have avoided that one.
James's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and James duly obliges.
James moves into range and connects with a jab.
James lands a jab.
James scores with a decent looking hook.
The crowd cheers as James lands an impressive looking overhand right. Dumas doesn't seem phased though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
James keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
James goes for a small jab and connects. Now James goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Dumas stumbles back but James runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Dumas to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Dumas will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Liam James!
A relieved looking Liam James thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
