Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Dudley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nicolas Escobar ! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Escobar shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Escobar was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Dudley is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Escobar working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Escobar tries for a kimura but Dudley is defending well. Dudley tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Escobar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Escobar tries to move into full mount but can't pass Dudley's legs. Dudley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Escobar throwing strikes but Dudley manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
That's one minute gone in the round. Dudley working away. Dudley is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Escobar will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Dudley working away. Escobar is working to avoid the ground and pound but Dudley connects with a decent elbow. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Escobar can do anything to dispel that myth. Escobar being controlled for a moment. Escobar is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Escobar sneaks back into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Escobar wants to improve his position but Dudley is controlling well.
Escobar wants to control but Dudley is keeping busy and won't allow it. Dudley thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Escobar 's head. Dudley seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dudley perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Dudley wants to stand up but Escobar has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Escobar fails with a takedown attempt. Excellent takedown into side control there by Escobar . Escobar looking to control but instead Dudley has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Escobar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dudley keeps working. Dudley looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dudley is not content to let Escobar control the position. Dudley regains full guard. Nicely done. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dudley is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Anthony Dudley will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Escobar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Escobar trying to control from Dudley's half guard. Dudley has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Escobar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Escobar trying to control but Dudley is working from the bottom. Escobar works a leg free and moves into half guard. Escobar tries to pass to full mount but Dudley defends it. Anthony Dudley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Escobar keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Escobar throws a strike but Dudley avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Escobar trying to control but Dudley is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dudley wants to get back to his feet but Escobar is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Escobar has a takedown stuffed. Escobar tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dudley sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Escobar somewhat. Anthony Dudley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nicolas Escobar . Dudley moves into the clinch successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Dudley is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Escobar is defending well for now. Escobar dodges an elbow strike from Dudley.

Escobar being controlled here, momentarily. Dudley stands up from guard. Let's bang! Escobar instigates a clinch. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Escobar has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Dudley regains guard immediately. Escobar stops Dudley from standing up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Nicolas Escobar will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Escobar is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Dudley is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Escobar really wants to buck Dudley off and get back to his feet. Escobar takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dudley looking to control and managing it successfully. Dudley stands up from mount. Strange move. Dudley doesn't manage to clinch there - Escobar circles away.

Escobar closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Dudley tries to break free but Escobar pushes him back against the cage. Escobar breaks the clinch.
Escobar drives through and clinches with Dudley against the cage.
Escobar tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Dudley avoids it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dudley looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Dudley wants to get back to striking at distance but Escobar won't allow it.
Escobar has Dudley pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Escobar pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Dudley tumbling to the mat - Escobar dives into Dudley's guard. Escobar trying to control but Dudley is working from the bottom. Dudley throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Escobar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dudley is keeping the position for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Escobar preventing the sweep.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Anthony Dudley. I think Dudley has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
