Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michael Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 14 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kaplan Temrezov!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kimura closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kimura prevents Temrezov from improving his position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Temrezov can do anything to dispel that myth.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kimura passes the guard and advances to mount!

Kimura avoids the attempt from Temrezov to control.
Temrezov is trying to stand.
Kimura takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kimura gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kimura misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Temrezov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kimura sprawls well initially but Temrezov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Kimura is positioning himself well to prevent Temrezov advancing to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Temrezov wants to stand up but Kimura is controlling the position.
Kimura works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Temrezov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kimura manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Temrezov manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kimura tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kimura has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Temrezov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kimura as he jumps to the side.
Temrezov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Kimura shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Temrezov napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kimura has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Temrezov!
Kimura content just to control the position here.
Temrezov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Kimura is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Kimura extends the arm and Temrezov is forced to tap!
