PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dany Crosby (ranked 2525 p4p, 353 weight class) and Damien OQuinn (ranked 1623 p4p, 252 weight class). OQuinn comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Blac Youngsta - Late kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dany Crosby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damien OQuinn!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crosby displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as OQuinn throws out the jab.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Crosby jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.


It looks like Damien OQuinn has been cut.
Crosby slips a jab from OQuinn.
OQuinn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Crosby was well out of range. Poor timing from OQuinn.
Crosby tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. OQuinn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
OQuinn misses with a combination

and Crosby counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if OQuinn can do anything to dispel that myth.
OQuinn trying to hold on to Crosby's head to control him but Crosby postures up.
Crosby seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Crosby tries to stand but his hand is stuck under OQuinn.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
OQuinn is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crosby seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Crosby's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are battling for position here. OQuinn manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Crosby gets to his feet - OQuinn follows without any prompting.
Crosby throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
OQuinn avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Crosby's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Crosby duly obliges.
Crosby has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Jitsu Jim in the buildup to the fight.
Crosby tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but OQuinn paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Crosby uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from OQuinn.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Crosby misses with a double jab.
Crosby ducks right into an uppercut from OQuinn.
OQuinn waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Crosby.
Crosby moves in looking to clinch but OQuinn pushes him off.
OQuinn throws a hook but Crosby avoids it easily.
Crosby attempts a counter takedown but OQuinn avoids it well and moves away.
Crosby darts in trying to clinch
and OQuinn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and OQuinn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
OQuinn misses with an uppercut. Crosby saw that one coming.

A left lands for OQuinn.
Crosby avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Crosby drops down looking for a counter takedown but OQuinn sprawls and moves away.

Crosby closes the distance and pushes OQuinn back into the cage.
OQuinn has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

OQuinn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Crosby fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with OQuinn, pushing him back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

OQuinn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Crosby moves out of range of the strikes.
Crosby tries to clinch but OQuinn is having none of it.

Crosby clinches with his opponent.
Crosby throws a head punch that misses.
Crosby working aggressively here.

OQuinn's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A lazy left from OQuinn finds it's target.
OQuinn takes a swing at Crosby's ribcage but misses.
Crosby uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by OQuinn.
Crosby ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
OQuinn looks to land a left hand but Crosby moved out of range nicely.
Crosby swings and misses with a hook to the body.
OQuinn lands with a straight right. Crosby didn't see that one coming.
Crosby is looking to clinch but OQuinn is avoiding it.
OQuinn connects with a right hand. Crosby shakes it off.
Crosby throws a right and a left that both miss.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Crosby scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Crosby tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but OQuinn paws at him with a jab and circles away.
It seemed like OQuinn was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Crosby misses with a series of wild punches.
Crosby on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Crosby throws a nice looking combination but OQuinn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
OQuinn might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Crosby moves in looking to clinch but OQuinn pushes him off.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from OQuinn! But no joy.
OQuinn lands with a right hand.


Crosby is rocked!
OQuinn lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Crosby - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for OQuinn!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Damien OQuinn!
Damien OQuinn decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
