Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Blaze Max (ranked 2789 p4p, 248 weight class) and Carlos Ruas (ranked 1213 p4p, 123 weight class). Max comes into the arena with Charlie Don't Surf blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blaze Max! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Ruas! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruas scores with a nice head shot. Max moves forwards but Ruas connects with a nice, crisp jab. Max looks to land a right hand but Ruas moved out of range. Ruas lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Ruas checks a low kick from Max. Decent striking displayed by Max there.
It looks like Carlos Ruas has been cut. Ruas lands a body shot.
A solid leg kick lands there for Max.
Max misses the shot to the body. Ruas shoots in and drives through. Max sprawls well. Max feinted there with a counter leg kick. Max is looking to slow Ruas down with leg kicks. Ruas manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Max on his heels. He'll look to pass Max's guard now, I'm sure. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ruas trying to control but Max is working from the bottom. Ruas looking to pass the guard. Max definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Ruas trying to control the position from guard on top but Max is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ruas postures up in Max's guard and throws a big left but Max blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Max is keeping the position for now. Ruas controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Ruas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Max swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ruas slips nicely into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruas is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Max defends it well. Ruas is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Max is staying active underneath Ruas, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Ruas is stalling here. Max is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ruas seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Max has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Max postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Ruas gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Max takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Max scoring with strikes to the body and head. Ruas moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Max looking to sit in guard and control but Ruas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Ruas wants to pass the guard but Max is keeping the position. Ruas is still trying to improve position. Ruas wants to control from the top but Max keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Max looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Max looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Max! Ruas manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Ruas trying to control from the bottom.
Ruas makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ruas. Max keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ruas's head. Ruas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Max defends well. Max stands up over Ruas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That has opened up Carlos Ruas's cut even more. Ruas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Max is one step ahead there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Carlos Ruas will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Carlos Ruas's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Ruas fails with a takedown attempt. Max takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Max throws a jab but it's blocked by Ruas. Max misses with a head kick.
Ruas moves into range and connects with a jab. Max misses the shot to the body. Blaze Max is winning the standup battle so far. Good exchange - Ruas coming out on top. Max looks to land a right hand but Ruas moved out of range. Ruas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Max was well out of range. Poor timing from Ruas. Max throws a right hand that Ruas ducks under and follows up with a left that Ruas also avoids with ease. Ruas lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Max throws a shot from downtown. Ruas moves away and avoids it. Ruas has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Ruas cracks Max with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Ruas looks to land a left hand but Max moved out of range nicely. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ruas slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Max throws a head kick that misses. Max throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruas just misses with a punch to the body.
Max on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Ruas shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Max napping and manages to drive through into side control! Ruas prevents Max from escaping the position. Ruas tries to move into full mount but can't pass Max's legs. Ruas tries for a kimura but Max is defending well. Ruas is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Max has escaped the position, nice work there. Ruas tries to advance to mount but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruas misses with the ground and pound. Ruas passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Max! Ruas throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Max has his hands clasped together but Ruas breaks the hold and Max is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Ruas!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Carlos Ruas! The defeated Blaze Max had this to say: 'Not a G'day mate...'.
