Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Douillet! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Russel Smith! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Douillet keeps the fight on the outside. Douillet feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Douillet is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Douillet won't allow Smith to get back to his feet. Douillet might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Douillet not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Douillet trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Douillet's corner is telling him to maintain position. Douillet passes into half guard. Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Douillet. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Douillet trying to mount his opponent but Smith defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Douillet in particular looking to stall. Douillet's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Douillet is looking to advance position but Smith won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Smith trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Douillet manages to pass to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Douillet throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Douillet content just to control the position here. Douillet landing shots from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

It looks like Russel Smith has been cut. Douillet connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
