The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilberto throws a head kick that misses.
Samsonov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gilberto.
Gilberto throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Samsonov moves into the clinch.
Gilberto can't break the clinch.
Samsonov stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Samsonov misses with a body punch.
Samsonov makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
It looks like Joao Gilberto has been cut.
Samsonov works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A nice right hand lands inside from Samsonov.
Samsonov lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Samsonov lands a left hand that snaps the head of Gilberto backwards.
Gilberto is breathing heavily.
Still in the clinch, Samsonov scores with a nice short uppercut.

Samsonov gets through Gilberto's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Samsonov tries a body shot but Gilberto blocks it.
Samsonov lands a nice uppercut.
A body shot lands from Samsonov.
Samsonov lands with a short shot to the head.
Samsonov drops Gilberto onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Gilberto is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Gilberto is rocked!
Samsonov creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Gilberto with a big uppercut! Gilberto tries to clinch up but Samsonov pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Gilberto to the mat! Gilberto covers up and Samsonov unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Ivan Samsonov!
