PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sanka Coffie (ranked 1247 p4p, 47 weight class) and Pekka Pikkarainen (ranked 1049 p4p, 37 weight class). Coffie comes to the cage accompanied by Rise Above It. Pikkarainen has chosen Nikopol - City of Victory as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sanka Coffie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pekka Pikkarainen!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pikkarainen looks to land a combination but Coffie avoids it well.
Pikkarainen throws a jab but it's blocked by Coffie.

Pikkarainen closes the distance and clinches up with Coffie, looking for a takedown. Pikkarainen pushes Coffie against the cage but Coffie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Pikkarainen throws a hook to the side of Coffie's head but Coffie sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Pikkarainen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Coffie.
And Pikkarainen tries to counter it with a takedown but Coffie pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Coffie fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pikkarainen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

My spies in Shark Tank MMA inform me that Pikkarainen has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Coffie throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pikkarainen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
