Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Crushman (ranked 1288 p4p, 49 weight class) and Gunnar Steigelmann (ranked 1196 p4p, 69 weight class). Daniel Crushman could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Gunnar Steigelmann's chin.

53 - 32 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunnar Steigelmann! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steigelmann lands with an overhand left.
It looks like Daniel Crushman has been cut. Steigelmann moves away from the strike by Crushman. Crushman throws a good cross that connects.
It looks like Gunnar Steigelmann has been cut. Steigelmann with a nice cross. Steigelmann fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Crushman on the side of the head. Crushman tests Steigelmann's chin there with a solid looking shot. A nice inside leg kick there by Crushman. That's going to slow Steigelmann down. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Steigelmann.

Steigelmann bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Crushman! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Crushman has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Steigelmann postures up.
Steigelmann wants to control from the top but Crushman keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steigelmann stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crushman swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Crushman throws a hook to the side of Steigelmann's head but Steigelmann sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Steigelmann throws out a counter right but Crushman avoids it with no problem. Steigelmann misses with a combination
and Crushman counters with a body kick that stops Steigelmann in his tracks momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Steigelmann tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Crushman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Steigelmann throws out the jab. Crushman throws out a loose jab but Steigelmann uses good head movement to avoid it. Crushman keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Steigelmann. Crushman looks to land a left hand but Steigelmann moved out of range nicely. Steigelmann with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Daniel Crushman's cut is getting worse. A chopping leg kick lands by Crushman. Steigelmann lands with a right hand. Steigelmann scoring well with a low kick there.
Steigelmann rushes Crushman and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Steigelmann working some nice short punches in the clinch. Crushman prevents a body shot from Steigelmann. Crushman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Steigelmann gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Steigelmann throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Crushman was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Crushman shoots in but Steigelmann avoids the takedown attempt easily. Gunnar Steigelmann is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Crushman scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Steigelmann gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Crushman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Crushman scoring with punches to the head and body. Steigelmann tries to land a sweep but no joy. That's four minutes gone in the round. Crushman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Steigelmann looking for a sweep. Not yet Steigelmann, not yet. Steigelmann is trying to control the position but Crushman postures up. Crushman postures up and lands a big shot to Steigelmann's brow. Steigelmann tries to land a sweep but no joy. Steigelmann utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nice body kick there by Crushman. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Gunnar Steigelmann will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Steigelmann has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Crushman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Steigelmann sprawls well. Steigelmann wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Crushman gets slowly back to his feet. Steigelmann takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Steigelmann doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Crushman lands with a nice body punch. Crushman keeps Steigelmann at a distance using the push kick. Steigelmann tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steigelmann throws a leg kick but Crushman checks it. Nice body punch from Crushman. Steigelmann moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Crushman waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Steigelmann. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Steigelmann to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

That's one minute gone in the round. Steigelmann wants to sweep here but Crushman controlling him for the moment. Crushman scoring with punches to the head and body. Crushman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Crushman tries to free his leg and advance position but Steigelmann is retaining full guard. Crushman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Crushman throws a big elbow that misses. Crushman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Crushman trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Steigelmann manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Steigelmann throwing strikes but missing. Crushman is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Crushman has his foot on Steigelmann's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Steigelmann works his way back into a safe position though. Crushman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Steigelmann can do to turn this around? Crushman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Steigelmann being controlled here momentarily. Steigelmann not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Crushman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Steigelmann tries a quick counter leg kick but Crushman is wise to it. Steigelmann chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Crushman can pounce on him.
Steigelmann fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Crushman is out of range. Steigelmann keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Steigelmann misses with a hook. Crushman ducked under it nicely. Steigelmann stuffs the takedown attempt from Crushman. Crushman gets slowly back to his feet. Steigelmann finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Steigelmann has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Crushman. Crushman with a body punch. A glancing blow. Crushman bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Steigelmann's head backwards.
That has opened up Gunnar Steigelmann's cut even more. You can see that Steigelmann has visibly slowed down as a result of the leg kicks Steigelmann gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Crushman. Steigelmann misses with a body kick. Steigelmann misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Crushman steps into range and cracks Steigelmann with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Steigelmann flops backwards and Crushman dives into his guard looking to finish!
Steigelmann is rocked! Crushman is pushing down on Steigelmann's leg trying to pass to half guard. Steigelmann is fighting to maintain full guard but Crushman has managed to sneak the leg through. Steigelmann is still in real trouble! Can Crushman finish him? Crushman is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Steigelmann sees it coming and defends easily. Steigelmann seems to have recovered his senses. Crushman in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Steigelmann tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Crushman!
