PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wolfgang Übensplikt (ranked 3993 p4p, 137 weight class) and Greg Bell (ranked 1374 p4p, 60 weight class). Übensplikt's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, More Than Nothing. Wolfgang Übensplikt is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wolfgang Übensplikt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greg Bell!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Übensplikt lands a nice shot to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Bell has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Bell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Übensplikt's waist but Übensplikt gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bell off to one side.
Übensplikt moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Greg Bell has been cut.
Bell throws a chopping leg kick but Übensplikt manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Übensplikt tries to clinch but Bell moves out of range.
Bell is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Bell shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Bell throws a body punch but Übensplikt moves out of range.

A little feinted left hand from Übensplikt on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Übensplikt cracks Bell with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Übensplikt is trying to trip Bell. He has hold of a leg but Bell is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Übensplikt persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Übensplikt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Übensplikt is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Übensplikt thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bell's head.
Übensplikt throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Übensplikt postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Greg Bell has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wolfgang Übensplikt.
Well Übensplikt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
