PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Long Thai (ranked 3821 p4p, 380 weight class) and Timothy Rex (ranked 4009 p4p, 396 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Long Thai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Timothy Rex!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Rex looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Thai tries to counter by clinching up but Rex breaks away and moves out of range.
Rex wants to clinch but Thai slips to the side
and Thai counters with a right hand to the body.
Rex misses with a combination
and Thai counters with a body kick that stops Rex in his tracks momentarily.
Thai thuds his right hand into Rex's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rex looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rex moves in looking to clinch but Thai pushes him off.
Thai wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rex walks forward, straight into a front kick from Thai.
Thai swats away the attempt to clinch by Rex.
It appears Thai was looking to counter with a kick there.

Rex is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Rex pushes off an throws an elbow but Thai leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

and Thai counters with a big head kick but Rex shrugs it off.

Thai comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Rex is still on wobbly legs! Can Thai finish him?
Rex drops his hands momentarily. Thai doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Rex staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Rex doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Long Thai!
