The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rondo lands with an overhand left.
Marinho ducks under a wild hook from Rondo.
Rondo misses with a straight right.
Marinho drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Rondo defends it well.
Marinho shoots in for a double leg but Rondo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rondo misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Marinho counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rondo is pulling down on Marinho's head. It's preventing any offense from Marinho, at least for the moment.
Marinho is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Rondo can't keep his opponent in guard - Marinho advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rondo tries to roll over but Marinho keeps him under control.
Rondo is working hard here to advance position.
Rondo is looking to control Marinho's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rondo avoid being mounted?

Marinho tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rondo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Rondo can't escape the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rondo tries to improve his position but Marinho has taken his back! Marinho has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Rondo tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Marinho pushes Rondo away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
