Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Armondo Munoz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Power Max! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Max tries to clinch and Munoz counters with a left to the body. Munoz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Max sprawls well initially but Munoz persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Max wants to sweep but Munoz has passed to side control! Max can't do much from the bottom here. Munoz working the body and head with strikes. Max tries to get back to half guard but can't. Munoz is looking to take a break and control but Max is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Munoz working the ground and pound. Munoz tries to move into full mount but can't pass Max's legs. Munoz looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's one minute gone in the round. Munoz cracks Max with an elbow. That is naaassty. You can see the frustration on Max's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Munoz wants to control but Max is keeping him busy. Max is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Max really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Munoz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Munoz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Munoz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Max is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Max struggling a bit here. Max regains half guard. Munoz is nestled in close to Max, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Munoz lands with a punch from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nice strikes from Munoz there. Max tries to roll over but Munoz keeps him under control. Munoz drops an elbow to the side of Max's head. Max is looking to control Munoz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Max avoid being mounted? Munoz is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Max has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Munoz is working away from the top position though. Munoz trying to pass the guard but Max defending well. Munoz trying to control the action but Max is working from the bottom. Max throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Well, if Munoz is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Armondo Munoz dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A counter left hand to the body from Munoz misses its target. Munoz jabs Max to the body, keeping him at a distance. Munoz chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Munoz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Armondo Munoz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Max doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Max tries to clinch but Munoz moves away and Munoz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Max shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Munoz defends it nicely. Max closes the distance but Munoz moves to the side and Munoz counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
That's one minute gone in the round. A momentary lapse in concentration from Max enables Munoz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Max manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Munoz scoring with punches to the head and body. Munoz engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Munoz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Max can do to turn this around? Max has momentary wrist control but Munoz slips an elbow through the middle. Munoz working some strikes from top position. Munoz is in close to Max's body, working some short punches and elbows. Max is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Munoz defends well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Munoz content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Munoz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Munoz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Max has momentary wrist control but Munoz slips an elbow through the middle. Max is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Munoz lands a couple of decent looking shots. Munoz with a nice head shot there. Munoz advances to half guard. Munoz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Munoz connects with a nice short shot to Max's temple.
Max is rocked! Munoz is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Max is hurt! He's hurt bad - Munoz fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Max from any more punishment! Congratulations to Munoz! Great finish!
