Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Louden Swain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerard Michels! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Michels will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Swain shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Michels's guard. Michels is looking for a triangle but Swain pushes his legs off easily.
Swain wants to pass the guard but Michels is keeping the position. Michels has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Swain can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Swain thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Michels has a loose triangle. Michels is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Swain is working for a kimura but Michels is defending it quite comfortably.

Swain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Swain is working hard here to advance position. Michels wants to sweep here but Swain controlling him for the moment. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Swain is pressing down on Michels's thigh, looking to free his foot. Michels is holding on for now. Michels looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Swain stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Michels on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Swain, as that shot connected.
Michels doesn't succeed with the takedown and Swain counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Swain moves nicely into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Michels on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Swain decides to take the fight back to the feet. Michels has his takedown stuffed and Swain counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Louden Swain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerard Michels. Swain is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Michels doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Swain. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Michels is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Swain pulls his head out easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Louden Swain dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Michels takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Michels misses with a takedown attempt and Swain counters with a nice double leg into side control. Michels won't be happy with that. Swain working the head and body with strikes. Michels manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Swain looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Michels tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Swain slips a nice elbow through Michels's hands, connecting with Michels's forehead. Michels tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Michels looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Swain is nestled in close to Michels, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Swain is trying for a kimura here. Michels looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Swain wins by kimura!
