PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Hayes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hayes has chosen Fight Song as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Scott Nash has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Scott Nash seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Hayes!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nash shoots in for a double leg but Hayes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hayes shoots in looking for a takedown. Nash tries to sprawl out of it but Hayes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nash manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hayes drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hayes trying to control but Nash is working from the bottom.
Nash wants to stand but Hayes is controlling the position.
Hayes not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Nash looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hayes is one step ahead there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nash is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hayes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nash doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hayes.

Hayes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Nash.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hayes swats away the attempt to clinch by Nash.
Nash fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nash tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hayes paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nash throws a hook but Hayes avoids it easily.
Nash misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nash thows a body shot but no joy.
A slow jab from Nash misses its intended target.

Hayes slips a jab from Nash.
Hayes avoids the head kick by Nash.
Some wild striking there from Nash.
Hayes displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Nash throws out the jab.

Hayes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Nash is not content to let Hayes control the position.
Hayes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Nash kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
You can see the frustration on Nash's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hayes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nash keeps working.
Hayes should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nash is looking for a sweep.
Hayes trying to control the action but Nash is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hayes gets caught flat footed, as Nash shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nash chips away with some ground and pound.

Hayes is looking for a triangle but Nash pushes his legs off easily.
Hayes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joe Hayes will probably get the nod.
That's time! Nash's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hayes fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nash looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hayes shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Nash tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nash throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Nash shoots in for a takedown but Hayes shows good takedown defense.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hayes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nash does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Joe Hayes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nash will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hayes is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

I've got Hayes winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
