PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between BIG GARLIN (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juda Schwartz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, BIG GARLIN!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juda Schwartz!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwartz tries to clinch but GARLIN is having none of it.
GARLIN avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
GARLIN shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Schwartz as he jumps to the side.
GARLIN looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Schwartz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Schwartz is working for a kimura but GARLIN is defending it quite comfortably.
Schwartz is looking to take a break and control but GARLIN is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
GARLIN avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Schwartz.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Schwartz wants to take a breather but GARLIN is having none of it.

GARLIN is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Schwartz pulls his head out easily.
Schwartz not landing any meaningful shots this time.
GARLIN is looking to escape.

Schwartz decides to stand and escape the position.
GARLIN is breathing heavily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Schwartz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
GARLIN swats away the attempt to clinch by Schwartz.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Schwartz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from GARLIN.
GARLIN could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
GARLIN doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Schwartz counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps GARLIN thinking.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for BIG GARLIN. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Schwartz tries to clinch up but GARLIN circles away and keeps his distance.

Schwartz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts GARLIN as he jumps to the side.
Horrible takedown by Schwartz or perhaps it was just good defense by GARLIN which made him look bad.

Schwartz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. GARLIN sprawls well initially but Schwartz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Schwartz wants to take a breather but GARLIN is having none of it.
Schwartz throwing shots but GARLIN is blocking nicely.

Schwartz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Schwartz wants to control but GARLIN is keeping him busy.

Schwartz is trying to work for a kimura but GARLIN is defending well.
Schwartz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

GARLIN is defending against the submission attempts here by Schwartz.

Schwartz decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Schwartz drives through and clinches with GARLIN against the cage.

Schwartz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Schwartz misses with a takedown

and GARLIN counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by GARLIN.

Schwartz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. GARLIN doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Schwartz is tightening it up a little... GARLIN has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! GARLIN reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! GARLIN taps out! nice BJJ there by Schwartz!
