Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jako Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Chiasson!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Bruno Lombardi and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day slips a straight right by Chiasson.
Day misses with a jab, cross combination.
Chiasson drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Day defends it well.
Chiasson throws a lazy uppercut
and Day counters with a series of strikes. Chiasson will be more careful next time no doubt.
Day throws a right and a left that both miss.
It seemed like Chiasson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Day lands a really nice looking cross but Chiasson seems unphased.
Chiasson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Day.
Day lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been informed that Chiasson has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

As Chiasson looks to move away, Day throws a big counter combo but Chiasson just gets out of the way.

Chiasson is staying tight to Day's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Day is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Chiasson has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Chiasson might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Chiasson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
